Times Cited Count:3 Percentile:62.76(Physics, Condensed Matter)Soft X-ray photoemission spectroscopies have been performed on YbCuGe, which is thought to be a Yb divalent system, to investigate its bulk electronic structure including Yb 4 electrons. Small but finite Yb multiplet peaks were found at 612 eV in the angle-integrated spectrum, suggesting that it is a valence fluctuation compound. An "anti-crossing" Yb 4 bands with conduction bands were observed in the angle-resolved spectrum. This is the evidence that the Yb 4 electrons form a band state through the hybridization with Ge 4 and Cu 3 electrons.

Times Cited Count:4 Percentile:70.97(Physics, Condensed Matter)We have measured the electrical resistivity of URuSi under high pressure using a high quality single crystal sample. The pressure phase diagram was re-investigated. With increasing pressure, the transition temperature from the paramagnetic to the "hidden order" states increases and the superconducting transition temperature decreases simply. Below , a power law exponent smaller than 2 is required to represent the data and the values of are generally about 1.5 0.1. Above , increases with increasing pressure and the value is about 2.0 at 1.51 GPa. It is suggested that the derivation of the exponent from the Fermi liquid theory is intrinsic to the hidden order state.
